Frequently asked questions
Will the chronology hold up if opposing counsel challenges my records review?
That is what the page citations are for. Every line in the chronology points to the page it came from, so you can show exactly where each fact in your report originates. See our post on what happens when opposing counsel challenges your chronology.
Does OctopusLM write any part of the opinion?
No. It summarizes and organizes the record with citations. Causation, impairment, apportionment, and prognosis remain the examiner's work. We think that boundary is both ethically necessary and what makes the output defensible.
How do I check the AI output before I rely on it?
Use the citations. Open the entries that matter to your opinion and confirm the wording on the source page. Our verification checklist covers what to check and in what order.
What about handwritten notes and poor scans?
Where the OCR cannot read a page confidently, the output flags it rather than guessing. You will know which pages need your own eyes.
Is claimant data handled appropriately?
Yes. Records are encrypted in transit and at rest, processed in HIPAA- and PIPEDA-compliant infrastructure, and never used to train models. OctopusLM is built by a Canadian company and handles both Canadian and US files.
