For Claims Adjusters

Medical Record AI for Claims Adjusters

You have a 600-page medical file and a call scheduled this afternoon. OctopusLM reads the file and hands you a summary and dated chronology — every line cited to its page — in minutes.

The adjuster's problem is time, not expertise

You know what you are looking for in a medical file: mechanism, diagnoses, treatment intensity, pre-existing history, gaps, inconsistencies, work status. The problem is that finding it means paging through hundreds of scanned pages from six providers in whatever order the records custodian sent them — for every file on your desk.

What OctopusLM does for a claim

Upload the medical PDFs exactly as received. In minutes you get:

  • A narrative summary — what happened, what was diagnosed, what was treated, what the current status is, and what pre-existing conditions are documented.
  • A dated chronology — every visit, provider, diagnosis, medication, imaging result, and work-status note in order.
  • A page citation on every line. Click it, the source page opens. You never have to take the summary on faith.
  • Word and Excel export for the claim notes, the reserve rationale, or the referral to an IME or nurse reviewer.

What it changes on the desk

Before After
Skim the file, hope you caught the important pages Read a cited chronology; open the pages that matter
Reserve on partial information, adjust later Reserve on the full treatment picture on day one
Refer everything ambiguous to nurse review Refer the files that genuinely need clinical judgement
Build a timeline by hand for the IME referral Export the chronology to Word and attach it
Get surprised by a pre-existing condition at mediation See the pre-accident history dated and cited up front

Common file types

Verify, don't trust

Every AI summary should be checked before it drives a decision. Because OctopusLM cites the page for every line, checking is fast: you verify the entries that matter to the claim rather than re-reading the file. Our checklist for verifying AI output covers what to look at.

Pricing for adjusters

Sign up and run a real file for $0.10 per page — no contract, no minimum. If you are running files every week, $250 per month unlimited. If your whole unit wants it, ask your manager about the Insurance & Legal team plan with shared cases and volume pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need IT to install anything?

No. OctopusLM is a web application — log in from a browser, upload PDFs, get the summary and chronology. Nothing is installed on your workstation.

How long does a file take?

Minutes, depending on page count. A several-hundred-page file is typically ready before you have finished your coffee; very large files take longer but are still same-day.

Is it accurate enough to rely on?

It is accurate enough to work from, and — more importantly — every line is cited so you can verify anything that matters before relying on it. That is the standard we recommend for any AI output in a claim file.

Can I share the output with defence counsel or an IME physician?

Yes. Export to Word or Excel and attach it to the referral. The page citations carry through, so the recipient can check the source pages too.

Is claimant data safe?

Records are encrypted in transit and at rest, processed in HIPAA- and PIPEDA-compliant infrastructure, and never used to train models. Your files are only visible to you and anyone you explicitly share a case with.
